All our fireplaces are carved in Somerset under Paul Spencer’s watchful eye.

They are not mass produced in China using angle grinders!

Our staff are trained to Paul’s exacting standards, and that's why the quality of our work is recognised by English Heritage and leading historical specialists.

Spencer and Richman is also proud to have been admitted to the Association of Master Carvers, which guarantees a certain degree of quality and excellence.

However, our standards are governed by our own rigorous criteria:

• We only use the highest quality stone or marble
• We only employ highly skilled craftsmen/women
• All our carvers trained in Fine Art and/or Design prior to coming to us
• We carve with the finest quality tools such as Italian chisels
• We carve to achieve a lasting quality of work, and production line mentalities are alien to us.
