A grand carved stone chimneypiece in the manner of architect Sir William Chambers (1723–1792).

Paul has given the original marble piece a modest revision in its strong architectural form and heavily moulded cornice. The jambs sport forward projecting lion masks, their mouths gripping rings from which is carved, a generous drop of ribboned husks.
